The 2014 Fall Social
(photos and event recap)

What a beautiful night for the Hillside Community to come together and celebrate Fall and the return to school! The Fall Social featured a warm and cloudless Friday night-  tug-o-war, sack races, kickball, tire rolls, and other games.  To get into the spirit of Fall, talented parents and teachers embellished young faces with beautiful artwork. And parents, teachers, staff, and children enjoyed great conversation along with snacks of apples and cider donuts.

The PTO would like to thank Chairperson Jean Foti for all of her hard work organizing the event.  Thanks also to the volunteers who helped Jean by painting faces, handing our refreshments, and running the games.

Event Recap:  All-School Assembly on "Buddies not Bullies"
Hillside students laughed, cheered, oohed and ahhed, last Thursday morning while learning important lessons about treating all people with respect.  Domino the Great, who has twice performed at the White House, presented his message of friendship and acceptance to a session for K-2, and then a session for grades 3-5.
If your child came home asking about Oreo cookies or dancing with toilet paper, you can thank the amazing Domino. His presentation also delved into important themes such as embracing differences, the importance of telling adults about bullying behavior, not being a bystander to bullying, and recognizing actions and words that can hurt other people around you.
Dr. Fasciglione will  discuss the important subject of bullying in her November "Principal's Corner" article in the Backpacker.  Thanks so much to the PTO volunteers who organized this wonderful assembly, Sarah Hesler and Joyce Choi.
Click here for more photos from the event and information about Domino the Great.
