The Hillside Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) was formed with the following goals:
The goals of the PTO are implemented through the development of educational and social programs and services for the school community, supported through fund raising activities.
Meet the 2016-17 Executive
Steve Fletcher is serving his 2nd term as PTO Co- President. He has been a Niskayuna resident for 29 years. Steve is now retired, but he served as Executive Director of Park Playhouse, as an adjunct professor at Siena College, as well as resident director of the Curtain Call Theatre. His son Maarten is in 4th grade at Hillside.
David Mills, is serving his 4th term as PTO Treasurer. David moved to Niskayuna with his wife fifteen years ago. He was born in North Carolina and lived in Minnesota, Haiti and Oklahoma before going to LeTourneau University in Texas and then on to Duke University. He has been employed by GE at their Global Research center as an engineer since moving to Niskayuna, and now has four children ranging in age from five to twelve. All of his school aged children have attended Hillside. Camping in the mountains, scuba diving, keeping up with Duke basketball, and supporting his kids activities are among his favorite past times. He is involved in the community through First Presbyterian Church in Schenectady where he is a member and serves on the elder board.
Susan Polsinelli is in her fourth term as Co-Chair of Ways & Means. She is the mother of Luca (5th Grade) and Leo (4rd grade). Susan grew-up outside Chicago, but her husband, Vincent, is a Schenectady native and they moved to Niskayuna in 2003. Susan is a "retired" attorney as well as a "retired" Licensed Associate Real Estate Broker. Susan is very grateful for the wonderful years her family has already enjoyed here at Hillside, and she hopes to help make this year just as great working with other PTO volunteers!
Sarah Spindler is excited to join the PTO in her 3rd term as Co-Chair of Ways and Means. In the past, Sarah served on the board of the Niskayuna Co-op Nursery School.
Sarah and her husband, John, have lived in Niskayuna for eleven years. They have two children at Hillside. For the past thirteen years, Sarah has been working as a physician assistant in pediatrics. She looks forward to spending time with the dedicated staff and parents at Hillside.
While Ainsley was involved with a number of
activities at Hillside last year, this is her first time serving on the PTO
